But does HW monitor check read / write speeds?
I am using ADATA SX8200 Pro 1Tb. This has a shield of it's own - which one peals the paper off and puts on the m.2.
Maybe I was not clear in my question - do I use this shield or the mobo one? Or both. Thinking about this, I think the mobo one is most appropriate as it is more "solid" looking than the thin strip ADATA one. Maybe the ADTA one is for mobos that do not have their sink cover.
I cannot see how I can post an image here to show what it looks like.
Appreciated but I have been "burnt" a few times when a hard drive failed on me. To have a 10Tb fail, with all the data, would be disastrous. This is the reason I use multiple HDs in a full tower. I realise the extra power consumption but, I guess, it is a risk factor mitigation.
I do back up certain data on Google cloud and NAS but cannot backup the lot.
In Tb you mean? About 10Tb
Sure. As I understand, PLS is the "IPS" equivalent for Samsung panels - so, in theory, both are the same, I guess.
It seems DC consumes more power as well.
Thanks. Will be using M.2 and 2 SSDs as well as 5400 / 7200 HDDs.
Go more with GPU even though I do not go for games?
Many thanks. I will review the PSU requirement. My case will be in a limited airflow space and am thinking of getting cooling with that type of cooler. Also, may decide to overclock with limitations in the future.
Also, I have 6 HDD, 2SSDs and an Optical drive as well. This will increase the PSU load.
Thanks. As you said, G.skill QVL confirms working with X570-E specifically which Corsair QVL does not. I think, although G.skill was first made in 2015, that may be the way to go.
Many thanks! Very informative!
I realise 100W is overkill - will change it to 750W (with future proofing in mind). Gone with be Quiet PSU for quietness. Idealy I need a good PSU with long cables so I do not need to go for extensions.
Also, I am a NON- Gamer. Main usage is home photo / video editing, little business work, browsing etc. 32Gb is also future proofing (can afford it currently!).
The case is not for display purposes and will be under the desk.
Also need advice on a 27in monitor (1440 at least) and max budget of £300.
Does this also apply to X570 AMD boards? As an example, Crosshair X570 QVL shows 4 x 8gb modules as well. I agree this may limit future expansion.
Noticed on Crosshair VIII memory QVL that a few DDR4 3200 4 x 8Gb modules are mentioned. It is unlikely that I would need more than 32Gb of memory in the future, so, can I opt for 4 sticks rather than 2 - more Ram choices I think.
Thank you. Still, worst scenario would be I will end up with stock 3200 / 3466 (depending on which one I get). Since I am not a gamer at all and things like fps do not matter to me, will I really be able to tell the performance difference with 3200 / 3466 or 3600?
To put the "spanner in the works", can I go for 3200 / 3466 and overclock it to 3600?
Considering the steep 3600 32Gb price for both, will there be a "substansital" performance difference if I were to go for 3200 - which is much cheaper?
Thanks. If both buy from others, any reason why Gskill is almost twice as much as Corsair here in UK?
Thanks for the revised list. I agree with the original Dark base pro 900 rev 2 tower case (I have always used towers as I find them very easy to work with!).
Is the 2060 too high for my requirements? I do not play games.
Many thanks mark5916
BTW - how does one "display" the parts list in the message as you have done?
My apologies - I have now corrected it. It is 3700X I need.
In my part list I have the 3700X.
Thanks a lot for this. I will now definitely consider external optical drive. Any recommendations up to $100 please?
Appreciate thi but I have heard that the USB driven external opticals are not as good as the SATA driven ones. Any good ones you can suggest?
Sure - I get your point on "grace period". The budget is available but my point was to wait for 570X or to go with 470X.
Thanks. It will also hold Windows 10 on it. What do you mean by high write environment please?
Would not hold photos and videos on it but run other programs off it. I guess, price wise, it may be a better choice for intel 2Tb than 1Tb 970 pro.
Thanks. Video editing will be on occasional basis and I am hoping that 16Gb will suffice. I will not be editing 4k or very large files.
I guess the option, as thesmilyone suggesteted, is to go for 3866 CL18 and tune it down to 3200 CL14 and then use pagefile.sys.
Thanks. I guess, then, it makes sense to go for good quality 2 x 16Gb 3200Mhz memory as I intend to use
Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD/Solid State Drive as my boot drive. This should give me speed for pagefile.sys if required.
If I go for 16Gb of good memory and a video editing programme requires more, will it use pagefile.sys on the Hard drive? Can pagefile.sys reside on a SSD to speed things up?
Many thanks. Final question - worth considering X470-F? Apart from the price difference, any real benefits?
Many thanks! My list is not "set in stone" and will certainly check your suggestions. Does the Asus B450-F have the same Bios as Crosshair? Does it have a backup bios in case a bios upgrade goes wrong?
Apologies for a late response. Have overclocked in the past and may do in future - hence the Motherboard. Any thoughts on a decent high quality wifi MB with good / user friendly bios options as an alternative?
The MB I have chosen is X470 and not X370 - hence the confusing error issue
Have always had Full tower cases - find them easier to work with (Currently have a Cosmos 1000 full tower). Also, I currently have 5 HDDs for various projects. On second thoughts, overclocking is a future option. Have overclocked at times in the past. Also, need 32GB (from past experience).
I assume the be Quiet! cooler is "fairly" easy to install? I plan to go for 4 x 8GB memory sticks.
Many thanks. I am also considering Ryzen 2700x for cost / performance purpose. Will appreciate your views please? Also, the MB to go with it?
Impressed with the low cost upgrade!! Need a decent 23inch or so monitor as well as the price so far is low.
Will my existing Cosmos 1000 work ok with these components?
