I see you bought two 1 TB HDDs, so your reference to speed is by implementing a RAID 1 parity? Looks like a fairly well balanced system that gets the job done. I don't care about pretty cables either- so you got it, balance + good price. Congrats

I'm going out on a limb and guessing you won't need to build another puter for a Looonnnggg time after you're married. Good choice. Nice build, upgradable yet future-proof. A bit of advice from someone who's enjoyed 36 years of bliss- it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission (but sometimes wisdom will dictate consult the little lady first- she might hold out cooking dinner or something).

Nice balanced system! I presume you're booting onto the M.2 and using the HDD for data storage? Cool story behind the build too. Congrats on your first build. I bet it's fast.

The monitor layout is what drew me to your build, but I'm a HUGE fan of sealed water cooling systems for reasons of no maintenance and functionality (all the bling and headaches I don't need, just throughput). Your implementation was superb and well-balanced and aesthetically pleasing with the RAM layout. Great build--thanks for sharing.

Water cooling is braver than I would tackle. I'm all about the pre-packaged systems (enclosed loops). Thanks for sharing the benchmarks at the end of the picture show too- awesome build and awesome story. Mine is similar in many ways less the jail time, so I'm glad you found an different path. Looks like you got this! Congratulations! Give your mom a big hug, she loves you very much.

Noble use for cancer research. Wonder if you would ever know if your submissions were the direct result of a find? Very nice build BTW. Love that you built your own desk and everything. Classy on all levels.

I'm always looking for new builds here that come close to my $10,000 dollar mark, because that's what my build on paper adds up to so far. I'm amazed at how 10k can go two completely different directions, as I had no idea that custom cooling could run so high. My on-paper investment was for the I9 18 core, 128 gig of fast RAM, but stock cooling. Now I'm considering making it a 12k build. Thanks for sharing this- I'm getting some great ideas!

I'm considering dropping 10k on a single power workstation. That reflects a lot of planning integrating three sub-systems into one, replete with singular cooling. Multimedia is my application too (with huge 4K monitor). Great build, thanks for the super detailed pics.

I've taken videos of LED (i.e. Christmas lights), where the LEDs seem solid to the eye, blink wildly in the video. Great great build and presentation. Thanks.
