Cheers man, at the time this was bought I dont think the 5700XT was released yet, I may of been wrong. Also prices may vary if you are vieweing this in US$. But then again, good idea! Cheers though!
I disagree, we would of only saved around £40 by using a cheaper case and no fancy fans, which is not sufficient to cause any substantial performance increases, plus; It would look rubbish!
Not my choice on that, but price's are different in the US to UK remember that, sometimes the conversion from US Dollar to GBP is not exact on PC Part picker. Cheers tho :)
I have decided to get the AOC G2590PX, and I am currently using it right now but I have noticed some things I am not that happy about. I have two other displays, one ASUS VN247HA, and the other a ASUS VN247H (one is 1ms, the other is 5ms. I believe they use different panels).
I'm experiencing some ghosting is some games with the AOC, and also it just sometimes cuts out completely and turns black, coming back on a few seconds later. Also getting the colour to match the other 2 display's is proving quite difficult. It can also make me feel queasy when using it for extended periods. I think I may replace it with the ASUS MG248QE as it has the same aesthetic look as my other 2 display's, is brand matched and hopefully I will not have as many issues.
Cheers man, it seemed quite smooth and I enjoyed using that monitor. I would recommend it if you can get it for a cheaper price, maybe around the £140 mark.
The setup is my own personnel setup, and the small screen is a older 2014 android tablet, a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" that is mounted to a flexi arm. I use it as a tertiary display for some games like flight simulator to display flight maps and navigation data. When it's not used I have Kaspersky cyber-threat, real time statistics up as it's interesting to see what kind of attacks are going on.
Thanks for your concern, and I know that the power supply may not be the highest quality, but for the budget of the builds I could not justify spending an extra £45 on getting a high quality power supply. The power supply fitted is indeed a cheap one, but has a decent quality for the price.
I believe it was around £42 around time of purchase. The power supply is cheap and low end, but it should not cause a problem to the system's stability for the long run. Cheers tho!
The power supply's are not actually terrible. Yes, they will need to be replaced if using higher end components though. They are cheap and not made of high quality, but I have not had a issue with any 11 of them that I have rolled out.
It's normal for first start-up for it to gurgle. If it keeps doing it after about 5-10 mins then rotate the case around to try and get the air bubble to raise to the top of the rad. I had to do this with the older radiator (rev.1) before I got it replaced due to a faulty pump.
I game on my system mainly, and too add more performance you could try overclocking your CPU to 4.6/4.7GHz. I also have a overclock on my GPU for +100MHz core and +200MHz memory, and I have set up fan custom fan curves to suit them. I also saw your RAM is the slowest speed of DDR4. If you wanted more performance you may have to invest in faster RAM.
This PC does everything I want it to for gaming. I can play most games at max settings achieving 74FPS at all times (I have vSync turned on on all games). I do struggle to run Ghost Recon Wildlands at max, and Arma 3 (which is not optimised anyway).
Cheers man. I have always wanted nanoleaf panels but they seem to be expensive at the moment. I will definatslly buy them later on when I have a bit more money and the price is more reasonable. I don't think I'll be able to drill any holes in my desk either. I do like my case at the moment but there are a few problems with it that I think would be fixed with a newer case.
Probably will do man. Looking at the NZXT H500i with a 120mm aer rgb in top and a 140mm aer rgb in back. Not going to bother changing the Aer P radiator fans as they are not visible. May get white trim for them though. Found a backplate and SSD cover on ColdZero.eu. Seem to have good quality and decent prices. Also found braided cable pack on Amazon by a brand called upHere for a really good price. Cheers man.
Gonna invest into some sleeved cables. Found a whole set on amazon for really cheap compared to the rest.
As for the fans, I want to change them, but I am not too sure on what brand/model to go for.
I also can't find anyone that does metal backplates. V1Tech does plastic ones, but they charge a lot of money for a piece of plastic, especially after shipping has been added.
Asus provide 3D printed files for a M.2 cover fan thing. Might see if I can get one printed off cheaply.
I agree with you. I think the case is a bit outdated when compared to today's market. I have always planned to get some sleeved cables as well. I will look into the monitors and see if I can get rid of these two and replacing them with a higher refresh.
I pulled the caps off the motherboard, and it doesn't seem to work anymore. I will have to go on a search for a new 775 motherboard for cheap. Don't think i'll be upgrading RAM unless I get some for free or come across a super cheap pair. Have a look at my reply to "kschendel"'s comment and it will explain a bit more.
I was looking at replacing them, with Panasonic RF series I believe... but cost £5.60, the caps themselves only cost £1.20 but the delivery charge is £4.40, not work the amount. Also I really don't want to invest any money into this machine at all, and I hope soon when my uncle upgrades his old Dell Inspiron I can use that along with the newer 600GB HDD that comes with it. Pulled the caps off the motherboard, and it doesn't seem to work anymore. I will have to go on a search for a new 775 motherboard for cheap.
Fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate, for some reason the USB port's are a bit dodgy on the machine so I have not been able to use my Windows 10 install.
CPU usage is very low, never goes above 35%, which has confused me. Maybe processor is not getting the correct power? As for RAM, it has 2x1GB sticks of DDR2 866.
The machine model number is a Packard Bell iMAX X3414. It also has a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS card installed. I still think the processor is still pretty solid, being a quad core.
Also take cooling issues out of the possibilities, yesterday I completely disassembled the machine, cleaned it inside and out, replaced CPU and GPU thermal paste, and removed dust everywhere (I even went the extent to wet-wipe things down that still had some dust on). The whole thing looks brand new inside and out now. Also, this is how I discovered the blown caps.
Problem is it would be a pain for me to uninstall all software due to me having some software which requires a lot of modding and tweaking to get to a standard that I like. I will try to fix windows though. Thanks.
Just done some testing, it seems the issue is within Windows. I have had my CPU at base clock for a while now and it has gone back to its old slow tactics.
Very well surprisingly. Built loads of computers with the same PSU, and never had a single fault or failure with them, and some PC's I built have been running this PSU for years. I'm impressed to be honest. When brand new they do emit a "cheap chinese" electronic smell but once worn in they are completely fine. They're quiet too. Well worth the money.
Yes it would be, unfortunately Arthur does not have the money at the moment, but once he does, he will be either pairing it with a 1050 or a 1050Ti. Also will need a 1TB WD Blue drive for games :)
Thanks man! I like to keep my builds simple, clean and cheap, so if something does go wrong it's easy to repair. The budget was already maxed out, so we couldn't spend any more money unfortunately :(
Here are my excuses for not doing the B350 with the dual channel ;)
I would of liked to include these components, especially the B350 motherboard, but the power supply only has a 4-pin EPS and I did not want to use an adaptor, and with the power supply being included with the case and being rather cheap, I would not want to give it added stress, although on paper it should be OK. Also for simplicity, longevity and reliability, I decide against overclocking.
The RAM was chosen due to the price being quite low when compared to other sticks, and only using a single 8GB stick would allow him to upgrade to 16GB in the future, as this board only has 2 DIMM slots, and 2x4GB was more expensive.
Cooling is pretty good at the moment, I have added another 140mm fan to the front of the case to give it mainly positive airflow, and temperatures are very low. I would say the case is pretty easy to move, but if you are moving it quite often I would look into a Corsair Graphite 380T, they are built for being portable small cases. :)
