Your budget balancing for gaming is spot on and you wont notice you don't have a NVME if you just game. It's kinda a gimmick since you only see that speed moving/working with large files between the same drive or another really fast NVME. The higher 750w also wont kick the fan on in eco mod as often for lighter task so it would be quieter if you got like Noctua fans in the future. I did the same thing when my laptop died years ago; GREAT build man.
probably plans to get 3900 or the best cpu it can take "in 2 years time" when its not $500. The future proofing of pci 4.0 for faster drives and got the RAM that cost more then GPU+CPU. It's actually a pretty smart plan since he can have a computer that 2x twice as fast for only upgrading the cpu and gpu and not have to get a x570 board and a x370 like i did.

Nividia basically made the TI version of the 1080 too good..... for $600 used. The 2080Ti is really the only logical option above and he is using a 1080p panel so that 11gbs is only using like half; just skip the 2000 series.
Sweet build! This is probably the best performance for a dollar build you can do right now, play any game 1080p.
Its about 1 inch smaller then my DIY mATX case so most will be the same size since PSU height + mATX height = about 1 ATX board.
The case was, the arctic cooler, the sdd i got to upgrade my laptop but i don't use it so i took it out, the psu i picked up a while ago on sale for another build but never used, and the 212 evo i bought a while ago on sale and then dropped it so i did not want to use it in my ryzen 1700 build with dented fin's. I actually replaced a fx-6300 with a i5-3570 and mobo i little while ago since it shared the same ram, but i liked it so much i just decided to make this. I originally was going to do a used 970 sli build but it did not work (they had to be the exact same EVGA model so it would not work with a msi or a evga FTW card). So i go another msi 970 for the sli and just had 2 evga 970's that wont sli left over. Also getting a sli supported Z77 board board was really pricey so getting a new x390 with r7 for sli 970's made more sense.

That's a really balanced system for gaming, metro exodus will look amazing if you get 1440p or if you use that rtx.
With that cooler you could definitely turn up the cup ghz, that whole system would be fun to OC tune.
I just watched a tech yes city youtube video where he makes similar one with a better cpu and gpu... though yours looks better and he only used aio. I got a similar size Hadron Air (a bit longer), But i could not imagine fitting custom cooling in there since they have a Water cooling version that is like 2"taller for the radiator. You some how got it to perfectly rest on the components as though it was made to be like that. Put a i7 with a 1070 mini down the line, be a 1440p beast.
What he who slays Lemmings said and 1080p only uses around 3gbs of ram, so unless i also got a new monitor as well it would still only use 3gbs of ram. Though with my plans to add SLI (for the looks) it would give me everything ultra 1080p in all settings but textures in a few titles. However i would get double the fps in Rainbow Six Siege for smoother. Anyway the 8370 is a 4 core cpu that can do 1440p but at that point 1080p ultra with high fps will be smoother and better looking.
Mini after ATX; play on words. It's amazing how popular matx has become, for the fx line the ATX was really the only good option my mATX versions do not have sata3 and a single usb 3 port.
I have had really bad luck with Corsair, luckily evga is coming out with one. I replaced it with a platinum psu and still a issue. Got a x370 asus board and it has vdropp but not as bad. still asrock board is good value though at 3.7 or just a zen2 chip.
I did not plan for budget, i had a similar build with a r5 and 1060 3gb itx as a console replacement and i really liked it. So i knew it would be around 1000 and over 6 months got the parts in sales. The 1070 for 250 auction used as well case for $60 like new. Ram was a unexpected investment, but worth it. Though i really need to save for 1440p 120+ hz monitor or the 1070 kinda a waste.
I am becoming more suspicious of my Asrock boards being the issue because i have the x370 asrock gaming and i get the same results and weirder when i put my r5 1600 on both of them i get the same results same clocks and temps and voltages real difference being the 1700 has better multi core. They can hit 3.8 at a much higher ideal temp and 3.9 just requires too much of a voltage jump that gives crazy temps even with aio. Maybe the VRM are of poor quality or power delivery with the vdroop, but for the value and getting a .7 clock jump 24/7 is just fine. I prefer a silent pc anyway.
I have the R5 and R7 and on both boards ITXb350 and ATXx370 asrock gaming they clock basically identical max 3.8 and 3.9 with huge voltage increase and i am pretty sure Asrock just as terrible VRM over all or power delivery. I even switch cooling solutions from stock to noctua to aio and all give about the same.
Each build i'v done in the last year just keeps getting smaller, going for S4 mini as my next goal! Does not have huge OC headroom though, stuck a 3.7ghz.
I tried doing the full tower cpu but its off but like 1 cm, there is barely a 2 1/2 cm clearance with the side panel indent. The other issue is if it was any wider then 92mm it would not fit or interfere with cables. The case manual gives you 105mm cpu clearance but that is with the HDD bracket and radiator mount. So with out it there is about 140mm, but you could always leave the case off or mod the side panel. There is little intake and the case is not that good at positive airflow so its not really ideal for cooling
Hey i have the same thing basically but i cheap'ed out on case and power supply so it gets really hot at 3.8 with the vcore droop. I upgrade from the 2800 flare x to the 3200 flare x and the bios updates fix most of the problems so the higher speed ram only gave me like 2 point in single core speed. After seeing your build i wonder if a gold rated psu might improve my high vcore. I don't get how the cpu is holding back your gpu since the r7 has identical performance beside for the multi-core and my 1070 only scores 10 frames less against the intel in worst case.
Yea it looks like all of cougars american retailers dropped the kaze version. Probably since the mesh actually had a solid backing making it useless in the front except for the 80mm fan slot.
So the ATI Radeon built in to the board does work, though it will only work on a monitor well and i think its stuck at 1300X700 something. When i plugged it in to my TV the aspect ratio was not widescreen so i used a gpu just to output the desktop at 1080
I switched it out with the EVGA 600w BQ after i painted it blue for the cleaner look. When i first built it they where all used parts. Though management was easy since i only used 4 cords but those left over cords just look so ugly.

The supplied noctua splitter that i daisy chained. In picture 2 in the top right hand corner you can see it bunched together. You basically get one fan hub, a cpu hub, and cpu opt hub. So i daisy chained 3 out the of both the opt and the fan hub; 2 intakes and 1 exhaust.
Beside for getting really hot and having low single core performance they where definitely still a bargain at the time.
It's made of spare parts, so color was never considered. Orange is really hard to find. I am adding a blue deep cool cpu cooler tomorrow so if i put blue led strips in the inside i can do a blue/orange portal theme since the computers like a portal to the game. I had to run test in it and is much easier to swap out components with out cable restrictions. They are now tucked away that a 770 is staying in it and finally got the best fan configuration so its easier to do it all at once after instead of redoing it a bunch of times.
Works but not a huge noticeable difference from ssd, just snappier and big files are some what faster.
I have a h440 nzxt build with basically the same set up but my msi card for some reason can only be the bottom sli and i got 2, so i put another 970 in there and had this one for this. I have not used the sli build since i built the ITX
only using M.2 made it way easier
Yea i just stuck the gpu's in before taking the pic and I though i would install windows first. I did not know if i should use the special double bridge that came with my board or the single bridge. It actually didn't matter because it will not detect the bridge. Tried pushing it in harder, different tabs, different bridges, and only got hybrid mode to work.
Returned it for a replacement, so i hope i have luck with that. The SLI would only run hybrid mode without detecting the Bridge. Tried every config i could think of and no luck. The samsung M.2 is in some type of ram or disk caching mode that is not RAPID but is messing with it possibly; Still using the 970's in SLI is better then getting a 1050/1060 and a 1070 is not worth the price tag. So when i get the board back it will be fun to try and sort that out.
Wouldn't a single 144hz look better or would you need a better video card? and how did you set the 3 up, one HDMI, one D-video, and one DVI?
I don't think amateurs drop 2g's on a build, your at least enthusiast. Just look at that card, why did i ever get SLI 970's when i could have waited a year for that beast.
