I'm pretty sure I don't want to do them, but in my eyes everyone I see around me is doing it, and I may be falling behind socially of I don't.

I'd recommend the S10e as well, pretty nice phone. The OnePlus 6 is also a great phone, tho its pretty far behind the curve right now.

Fiber preferably, you want something with good ping for multiplayer but also decent speeds without much data cap if you ever need to download games(modern games can be 100GB+)

Yes, you could. Make sure you passthrough both GPUs then and also setup some sort of SSH server or such to get into the Linux system if you ever need to configure it.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "2 gamers 1 CPU"

No, on Windows hosts you cannot do that.

not exactly whats needed but fits the point

You could host on Linux and use KVM and QEMU to create one virtual machine with the 750ti running on it since on Windows, you can't actually pass through the GPU to a vritual machine unless its a quadro. But its not a bad idea and its certainly possible. You may need more RAM though, enough for both VM's and the underlying Linux distro. Definitely more storage is required

And finally, yes, you could dual boot.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Linux on Xbox 360?"

It's possible, but you need to solder a new chip to the board and your Xbox has to be running an old firmware for it to work. Also the distro selection is pretty limited(debian for example). If you want a fileserver, then a RPi with an eHDD is way better for the price. (the chip required for the xbox mod costs like $50)

As far as I can tell, yes. I don't really have that many games, but I tried H1Z1 and TF2 and didn't experience any frame drops there. I am now reinstalling Fortnite to see if that makes a difference

Got into the PCMR from a friend's homebuilt PC, spent years lurking on r/buildapc and here, eventually I convinced parents to let me build a pc but they never let my buy the gpu hoping I can buy that soon now. Broke the socket pins but managed to fix it using a magnifying glass and a thin pin. Recently got dual monitors and now looking to mod an old broken laptop with an egpu.

Why X470? B350 does just fine and AMD ships out their BIOS update kit if you need it. And B350 is way cheaper

I'd go for a NUC with an i3 or a pentium which comes to maybe $200-350. Then you can easily throw in 16GB ram(at roughly $170) and a SSD(512GB). Should do well AND it's small, quiet and vesa mountable. Also has wifi and anything else.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "dual monitor pros and cons"

I find that with the iGPU on my PC, I can easily run both (with a light video game like Fortnite open on one and keep Chrome/Discord open on my other one. Ubuntu's dual monitor support tbh isn't that great.

And yes :D. my setup looks super high end to all of my console-peasant friends

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is my build alright ?"

The SSD is really a night and day difference, you will certainly notice it. It would make your build way better if it had the SSD

I'd recommend a 256GB M.2/SATA drive for you, like the samsung 860 evo which sells for $40. You could reduce the size of the primary HDD to say 2TB

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is my build alright ?"

  • 1 point

It's a good build, although you might want to reduce the size of the primary HDD and instead fit in a 256/128GB SSD for fast boots and to store programs and games etc. Keep a smaller HDD for mass storage of videos/pictures etc

Partlist without windows, with windows price would be $1350 roughly for genuine or if you already have a windows key/digital activation then you can use that. no real color scheme here but the case is rgb and tg side panel so you can customize it. If you would prefer a cheaper case I can add that too.

And splitting will be hard because I can't get a job here.....there isn't really any opportunity.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Lots of news about gun control recently - what is your take?"

  • 1 point

I have to say that given the number of school shootings and the danger of letting any one individual posses a weapon capable of killing another, that people being allowed to have guns are bad. I mean, you could be trustworthy enough to own one, but say some people, for example were slighted or teased, then in theory they could kill someone. Guns themselves aren't bad, they are bad in the hands of a bad person. But we can't trust people to be "good" and that's why I'd argue for stricter gun control and perhaps we shouldn't be allowed to have guns at all

At least I think.
