Originally I wasn't even going to bother with one of these but then I did some research on my headset and found out that it was unlikely my mobo had enough juice to power it properly. So I grabbed this since it was inexpensive and had good reviews. So far, it's been great and everything sounds amazing through it.

Asus Xonar DG: Bought this because I was hearing noise from my motherboard when using the onboard sound. Sounds great and no complaints about it.

Great sound card for those needing basic needs. It has a built in audio amp but Ive never used it so i cant attest to how good it is. The drivers are somewhat unstable though.

It was a great sound card until windows 10 came out and I upgraded it to that then it stopped working for around 3~ months time until I was able to get a third party work around going and it finally started up again.

The PCI-e version, the Xonar DGX, has become somewhat of a rare and expensive card these days. ASUS probably discontinued them. But you can grab one of these PCI versions from Micro Center for only $20 new. I use this to enable low latency osu! hit sounds using GX mode, but for typical DirectSound, the average latency is about 80ms. I recommend this if you play osu!. Warning: sometimes hitsounds break. Use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to reload sounds (and skin).
