The Hue 2 unit itself connects to the motherboard via a Internal USB 2.0 header and is managed only via the NZXT's CAM software. Power wise it connects via Molex.

In regards to the fan's having briefly seen them when looking at a friends rig they seem solid. He moved down from Noctua industrial stuff and saw a very slight noise increase temp increase (degree or so) at similar RPM apparently. I suspect without hard numbers these will not be best in performance characteristics, but not awful. Main focus is on the bling really. Most reviews on the net similarly seem to focus on bling sadly rather then actual performance. Suffice to say unless you need the absolute best fan's in terms of performance or noise levels, these should be fine in most use cases.
