SSD and motherboard support

Hi I was wondering if the storage my motherboard supports is strictly restricted to its own list

Will my system still work alright if I pair these two together?

Mobo: ASRock Z390 Pro4 SSD: Pioneer APS SL2 240

It'll work just fine, even though it's not listed in the mobo QVL. SATA is SATA.

Unless ASRock decided they hate making money, Any SATA drive, barring defects, will work. The motherboard also has 2x m.2 slots and most m.2 drives would work as well.
