How does the 1080ti stack up in 1080p I'm not interested in 4K gaming as I value fps over resolution? I mainly play fps but I also would like to play cyberpunk 2077 on high graphics settings in 1080p on a 144hz g sync monitor. I saw that there are quite a few 1080ti's going for between 500-600usd on ebay so I was considering buying a 1080ti on ebay from someone with a 100% positive feedback and money back guarantee. a 2080ti is well over 1000usd.

The 1080 ti and the RTX 2080 are pretty similar, the 2080 ti is significant;y more powerful. But at 1080p either a 1080 ti or 2080 would be great for quite a few years. I'm running a 1080 ti on a 1440p 144ghz Gsync monitor and it's pretty nice. I expect it will run Cyberpunk 2077 just fine.

GTX 1080 Ti stacks amazingly well at 1080p. Usually I would say overkill but given many folks like to game at highest settings at over 60fps while newer titles are being surprisingly brutal on hardware (even at 1080p), the 1080Ti is probably a sensible purchase. Cyberpunk 2077 is not coming out for a while yet, but if it follows Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Metro Exodus in performance stakes, the GTX 1080Ti will not be overkill at all for 1080p. Right now, for AC Odyssey, the 1080Ti is not cooking much more than 80fps highest settings at 1080p and there are frame drops below 60fps as well.

Which CPU/MOBO would you pair a 1080ti with?

9700k / 8700k / 8086k / 9900k for max fps
