Can I use a 240W AC adapter for a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series laptop? It came with a 130W but I would like to increase the power supply for gaming purposes. Is this ok or will it harm my computer?

you can use any power rated adapter as long as:
1.) it has the same size plug
2.) it has the same polarity
3.) it has the same output voltage
components only use what power they need. as I've said before, you could get (theoretically), an adapter with the values stated above and it could be rated at a million bazillion watts output. doesnt mean it will draw a million bazillion watts.

What do you mean increase power supply for gaming purposes? Does your laptop turn off or lose power when you game on it while charging with standard power supply?
