I've currently selected this power supply: Corsair CP-9020133-UK TX550M 550 W 80+ Gold Power Supply Unit

However, since I don't pay my energy bills XD i'm fine with a non gold PSU. I'm on a tight budget, and really the wattage is what matters to me (but, I don't want my house to burn down)

Any suggestions for cheap 550W PSUs?

List of your build and budget?

Budget around £920 (can go up more if necessary by around 50£) including my chosen case, fans, windows, monitor etc

That window key is a scam, its not legit. You are going to need to pay normal MSRP for a normal.

Use PCPP, it will use the lowest prices.

the reviews for it are all great, you sure its a scam?

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

Consumer reviews especially on amazon mean ****. You either need some sort of professional review or secure reviewing system accompanied by lengthy details and pictures, even then it could be staged.

TheShadowGuy 2 points 2 months ago

especially on amazon

Combining reviews from all sellers and often different models gets really obnoxious when trying to get informed. And that's before compensated reviews and whatnot.

vagabond139 5 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

1000% sure. They are victims who haven't realized they have been bamboozled. Plus given how shady these places are that sell keys I wouldn't put it past them to do fake reviews.

Just because they activate doesn't make them legit. They break the ToS due to the methods used to obtain them(credit card fraud and reselling MSDN, imagine, volume, etc keys) and can be deactivated at any point in time because of that and it has happened.

damn. oh well. thanks for pointing it out to me

You can get rx 580 that are a bit cheaper like https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06ZXRLX3H/?tag=pcp0f-21

For psu the 550W you already have in your list is a great psu. Remember the psu is the most important part of a pc. But if for some reason you want a cheaper one i wouldn't go under this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/FQ648d/corsair-power-supply-cp9020101na . Its a 450W psu but its more then enough for your build.

Conrad_andrew submitter 1 point 2 months ago

actually, yeah, given the importance of the PSU I think i'll stick with it. Dont want to ruin my parts because I wanted to save £10 XD

I've heard that it is possible to upgrade older versions of windows to windows 10, but you would have to google that; you can always run windows 10 without a key albeit with a water mark, and no customization options while you find a reliable key
