Hi guys, so I currently have Norton Antivirus (college student, broke & can’t afford a good antivirus program, but my parents have this for the house sooo) and it keeps picking up SONOR.Cesalatetat!gen1. I’m currently in safe mode running a full system scan but I have no idea what to do. If anyone could help, that would be wonderful. I would love to avoid a system restore but I’ll do that if I have to. System specs: I5 6500 16GB DDR4 GTX 1060 6GB

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section..

Thank you!!!

There are a multitude of good free antivirus programs, such as Bitdefender Free (my personal choice right now), Kaspersky Free, Avira, and Avast. Norton has been good in lab testing but I haven't ever had much luck with it.

For your current problem, even if Norton seems to take care of it, try using a scanning tool such as the free version of Malwarebytes, Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, Emsisoft Emergency Kit, or Comodo Cleaning Essentials (or some combination thereof). Check your startup programs as well. If you think there is something running even in safe mode, try using a dedicated boot disk such as Bitdefender Rescue CD to scan without booting your OS.

You can try the trial software Malwarebytes

If you prefer sticking with Norton products, they recommend using their own Norton Power Eraser

SONAR.Cesaletat!gen1 is a detection for a JavaScript used to download potentially malicious files onto the compromised computer.
