Hey, im building a pc with the ryzen 3 1200 or 5 1400x and gtx 1050. I had a coolmax 400w PSU lying around. If I use that is there any risk in damaging my computer.

There is a huge risk, Coolmax isn't known for making good PSU's and they really only pump out high profit super low quality PSU's.

Yes it will damage components if this model blows.

Any time a psu fails, it can take out other parts.... the really bad ones have a high risk of that, and CoolMax makes really bad ones...

How is the EVGA 430 Watt one

I have it, its a decent unit. I would get a cxm unit when they go on sale for around $25 though

Pass on it too... That's a very old model from the W series... That thing is not a bomb, but it's not that good. It's alright for a basic web surfer pc, but if you plan to game alot I'd pass on it for a better unit. The evga b2 and b3 series are great, or the corsair cxm, or many many others... But if your looking only for the lowest price, you'll either find an awesome deal on clearance or a bomb...

The B3 is a fire hazard.

There is a good chance that it can damage or even kill parts. Don't take the risk.
