Future proof psu

In my build it recommends 364 watts. I will probably add more RAM, a better CPU and a second graphics card at some point. As well as additional cooling ect.

How many watts should I get? How important is the power rating? Can you recommend me a good reliable psu that isn't too expensive?

What are the part in your build?

You're asking us how powerful a PSU for your build should be, without mentioning what's in your build. We can't help without knowing.

I am using a ryzen 3 1300x chip. I will probably want to upgrade it at somepoint to the best AM4 chip after they become obsolete and much cheaper.

Motherboard probably an x370 so it properly supports crossfire if I need it in a few years.

GPU currently an rx580.

No extra cooling ATM but the case supports 240mm radiators so might use that at a later date when needed.

I'm currently looking at the Corsair - CSM 650W, this seems like it will be sufficient for a while but I don't know how long it will last and if the power will be enough if I want to reuse it in another build in 5-6 years time.

So you plan in the future to upgarde to the best AM4 cpu and add a second RX580 correct?

I would recommend a good 750W-850W psu for that setup.

CSM is already and older psu so for 750W https://pcpartpicker.com/product/64cMnQ/seasonic-focus-plus-gold-750w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-750fx or 850W https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jWFXsY/seasonic-focus-plus-gold-850w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ssr-850fx

That build will only draw around 200 watts, so a 450 watt is just fine. Honestly, you won’t need anything more than 550 watts or 650 watts.

The G3 SuperNOVA, Bitfenix Whisper, and Seasonic FOCUS are PSUs I would consider
