We there be a differences in performance ? I'm trying to put together a budget PC but want to install a SSD drive. Since it is a budget PC Sata 6 motherboard cost more.

It will still boot quickly, but the read/write speeds will be about half of what you would see with a SATA 6 motherboard.

It'll actually be about a third slower on reads and writes. The 840 EVO (and pretty much every single SATA 6 SSD) doesn't saturate the SATA 6 interface.
