Corsair upgrades the warranty on RMx, RMi, HXi and AXi series from 7 years to 10 years

The upgrade is retroactive, which means that if you already have one of these PSUs, then your unit benefits from 10 year warranty as well.

This is really nice.

Gives real competition to EVGA.

I think this is a wise decision for Corsair. Even if pretty much nobody will use it some will still be drawn to their PSUs for that warranty.

The RMx with a 10 year warranty destroys the 1000w G2.

Goodjob Corsair.

The RMx and RMi PSUs are also much quieter than the G2. That's a pro that some people forget about.

the RMx 1000 already was a better psu and a better value. now it's just overkill.

I agree. Hence why I said destroys instead of simply beats.

I might pick one up even though I only need like 650w. Are there any downsides to using only 50% of your PSU's wattage?

yea, being that your pc likely won't be loaded to 100% ever, and certainly not for every minute that it is powered on, you are looking at sub 80+ bronze efficiency for every moment you are not loading the psu inside that peak efficiency range. I have an HXi 750 and most of the time my pc is on corsair link shows the beautiful 85% efficiency on my 80+ platinum (92%) rated psu. :(
