Console Pleb Build v3 (Final...hopefully)

by z32Rome

After upgrading from the previous i7 920 to the 3770k, it worked great for all of a day or so, Until the P8z decided it wanted to show me it's VGA led. With all of the research i could do, nothing could mitigate this issue. I started looking for a replacement motherboard, to find that there are little to none available for the LGA 1155 platform, so I quickly gave up on that angle. This is why it's always better to buy new.

So on with the new and hopefully the final build an pics.

Upgraded to a I5 4690k, has been great thus far. Using OC gene for a quick and easy 4Ghz until I have time to play around with an Overclock. Idles really cool being cooled by the H100i. Although i'm really curious if the cool temperature is due to using arctic silver instead of the thermaltake Tg-3 compound.

With the upgrade I went on and got an EVGA Sli bridge, simply for aesthetics. Along with the mismatched fans XD

Aannndd that's all that's new....

Part Reviews

Can't really give a review until i play around with overclocks.

CPU Cooler

Keeps the CPU very cool on idle and under load. and Corsairs software that manages this is very easy to learn/use.

Good bios with all the features I wanted...Minus an optical audio.

Video Card

I've had a single 970 for over a year and adding a second has been a great experience thus far. Not many games I have that doesn't support running SLI, and the aesthetics or dual cards with an EVGA bridge is ****...IMO

Love this case, It's small with a huge window. the only issue I have is how easily the window scratches.

Easy to build in, cable management isn't the best unless you remove the SSD tray.

I love mine, seriously comfortable. There have been multiple occasions I get up and go to bed and forget their on my head. As far as audio quality, they're definitely better than my old turtle beach X32 headset.

I've heard the A40's are fantastic. I have Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones that are $300. They're insanely nice and by far one of the best purchases I've ever made!

the A40 Tr headset is nice.

I'd probably get one but I like the convenience of wireless and don't mind the audio quality snice i'm not competitive gaming. well i am, but not for money.

Why not just upgrade your GPU to a EVGA 1070 or 1080 instead of getting another 970? I understand the look of two cards in SLI looks nice, and for some people it puts them at half mast, but performance-wise a 1080, a 1070, or even a 980ti would out-perform two 970s in SLI. Just curious really.

I constantly think about it, but I didn't want to drop $5-700 at once for a new card and have to wait for someone to buy the old 970, when i could get a second graphics card and other things.

To be fair, you do have the A50s in your list but for whatever reason the site has them as the A40s. Every link goes to A50s and it even says A50 in the pic.
