EDIT 2: Added a second kit of Corsair Dominator memory for 32GB total. Just installed the CoolerMaster Master Accessory Universal LED Strip - White (2 Pack). Took a cable management pic. Dig it.
EDIT: Alright, so I added some more photos including the build with the original Zalman Z1 Neo Case and the Reevan Justice CPU Cooler, and my attempt at dealing with Memory Clearance, etc. I will add more pics of cable management and more detailed interior shots eventually, along with a full view of my desk / monitor setup once I get it cleaned up (nothing fancy)... stay tuned.
Long-time lurker posting a build for once.
This is my 2nd Intel build since the Pentium 4 days... and probably about my 5th or 6th personal computer build after running many old rigs starting with an Athlon 64 x2, the aforementioned Pentium 4, Phenom II x3 720 BE (x4 unlock worked but not without artifacting on the screen), Phenom II x4 960t BE unlocked to x6 1605t, an FX-8350 that was my previous, and finally back to Intel with an i7-4790k. I have built many rigs in the interim for other people and purposes in-between.
I was going to run an i5-4690k I got for pretty cheap but the CPU was defective and got a refund, saw a good deal on the i7 and went for it.
I have always strived for aesthetics in my builds and if the budget allowed, performance in terms of gaming and other multi-tasking needs as a former Graphic Designer and general Internet Junkie (who else has like 30 tabs open?).
As you can tell... I went for a focus on Yellow and Black, some White interspersed.
Something I wanted to mention and isn't a criticism towards my fellow enthusiasts but a personal preference; a lot of the work posted on here is beautiful regardless and I wanted to say that going full on RGB with my rig just wasn't my thing. I feel like it's a little overdone lately and unnecessary.
Some notes to mention:
Originally installed Reeven Justice 120mm CPU Cooler but had Memory clearance issues and switched to the Ouranos 140mm which has zero Memory Clearance problems; why I didn't look into this beforehand is a proper facepalm in itself but I will say both CPU Coolers are great -- premium quality and performance as most reviews will tell you.
1st Case these components sat in was a Zalman Z1 Neo; the Yellow components and Blue LED's on the case itself made for an interesting combination that I kinda liked, along with the vertical mesh grill fascia on the Z1 Neo for those of you aware. Then... I saw the Masterbox Lite 5 that released on the 19th of May by Cooler Master (will-called to Newegg day of release). Had I known about this case I would've waited for it instead of purchasing the Zalman Z1 Neo (will just have to use it for something else). Upon looking at the available customization options for the Masterbox Lite 5... I thought that Yellow trim on the Front Panel would go well, but after slapping on the included White trim and setting everything up, I feel it looks better and will stick with it.
I also couldn't get the USB 3.0 Front Panel cable undone from the motherboard that's in front of the 24-Pin connector... I tried and the socket on the motherboard started coming off so I left it alone.
This is my first GTX 1080 (yay tax retur--oh... aww.. it's gone) and the Zotac AMP! Extreme model is a beast in terms of size man. The GPU sag on this thing I considered in advance so I got a CoolerMaster Master Accessory Universal VGA Holder in there you can't see in the pics I posted and it works well (more to come).
Haven't finished purchasing some additional components I am hunting down such as another kit of Memory... an additional storage HDD, but importantly I wanted the Cooler Master Universal LED Strip pair in White that I can't seem to find being sold anywhere in the States, unfortunately. The LED Strips will be the final addition to the case aesthetics for me.
O... and Space Ghost, because Muthaf** Space Ghost.
I might be the first person to post a build with this case? I'd like to post quality photos done right and all but... ain't nobody got time for that, or the equipment.
Anyway, will update when I obtain the LED Strips hopefully soon. Take it easy all. Enjoy.
