Description

Machine is used for light gaming (Heroes of the Storm, World Of Warcraft, Etc...) as well as streaming said games to twitch. The first Maximus X motherboard came dead on arrival, so it set the build back a few days while I waited for a replacement. Everything went together fairly easy, the Eclipse P400s case looks great, and have plenty of room for cable management. The 212X cooler should be more than sufficient to keep the processor at good temps (not really looking for extreme overclocking) and the 1080 seems to be total overkill for what I do. (I went that route for some future proofing) The only thing that disappoints me is that this particular GPU does not have the ability to change the LED colors on the lettering. (That option seems to only be on the FTW series cards and above. A fact that I overlooked when I rushed to buy it when I saw it in stock on newegg for actual MSRP of 649.99. Overall though, with the scarity and price gouging of good cards, Im more than happy with it.)

so far so good. nice intuitive BIOS, seems stable and no issues minus the first one I received being defective. Blew a capacitor as soon as I assigned the XMP profile for my ram. Replacement 0 issues so far. I'm not really into extreme overclocking, so it's a bit overkill for me, but I wanted to do a nice looking build. Not sure that I would have paid the 300$ premium for that board otherwise.

If you can answer, would you rather stay with the Code or go with the Hero?

I may have one coming up for sale on the cheap if newegg decides to exchange rather than refund my original that came DOA. I'll keep you posted :)

Voting for the pug! My only other comment is that the LED seems to mess up the clean look of the build a bit. Maybe it's just a result of the camera though.

I agree. I took the shot on my phone, through the tempered glass side window. I'll try to get some better pics today, I was preoccupied day 1 mostly with just installing software and testing. :)
