Welcome to my new build, everything but the mouse was purchased in the past month. I've been wanting to put together a high end build for a while now and finally got around to it. I wasn't planning on water cooling at first, but I was looking through builds on here and saw how clean it looked and those builds got me wanting to try something new.
I'm a gamer at heart and wanted something that will last me a while. There is still some work to be done with this, and I have a 750W PSU from my previous build I plan on putting in here as well as the 750gb SSD. I got a free year of amazon's unlimited cloud storage when I purchased the keyboard so I will be using that for the backup and storing videos/pictures.
I had a leak during my leak test on the loop. It was pretty bad, but could have been worse. The O-ring in the CPU block wasn't seated properly and leaked coolant all over the motherboard. I used a ton of paper towels and q-tips, and let it sit by the window for about 2 hours and it was fine, the good thing about red liquid is I know when I've gotten most of it with the q-tips, good news is the motherboard was fine, and I didn't have to empty the loop to fix the leak.
6700k, what more is there to say? Latest and greatest intel CPU
I saw this was one of the top in a thermal paste test, preforms as expected
Nice mini ITX mobo, when installing the EK Supremacy CPU Block I had to cut the rubber backplate quite a bit because there were things on the back of the mobo that were stopping me from putting the whole backplate on. The BIOS is really easy to use.
Works great, chose because of the low timings and black color.
Best bang for the buck SSD.
Everything fits in pretty tight, barely got my 980 Ti in there but it fit. I didn't use any of the fans this came with. Removable 5.25" drive bay and you can take out the unused HDD/SSD bays and route cables through there. I wish they would make windowed side panels.
I was surprised to see this came with a jumper tool so I didn't have to go find a paper clip. This was recommended to me buy a staff member at microcenter, no issues yet. Only using it until I can get my psu out of my previous PC.
As plenty of others have said, the "recommended settings" for installation are silly, I turned everything off as it basically recommends adware. The popups every time you run a program are annoying but you can turn that off. I like the new interface, I've went from xp to win 7 to this and its nice to use some of the new features, although I doubt I will use the apps very much. It isn't as bad as people seem to be saying.
Taking a star off becasue they didn't come with a PWM connector, good quality fans otherwise.
Still the best of the best monitor, They came out with a new one this year with an IPS panel but you lose the 1 ms response time for that so I will be sticking with the classic ROG SWIFT until someone comes out with a 4k 120+ hz panel
I love these switches! I started using mechanical keyboards about 3 years ago, I've tried all the switches and this one is by far my favourite! It is extremely quiet in comparison. it will take some time getting used to the spacing and extra keys on the side. I keep hitting caps instead of A and the 0 hotkey instead of ESC. The rubber feet are easy to replace with the ones that elevate the keyboard. The lighting software is nice but takes some trial and errorif you want to do a custom profile.
Cons: I can't change the lighting colour when Num lock, caps or scroll lock are on. I've tried everything I can think of in the lighting software but I don't think it can be done. I enjoy the spacebar but it squeaks sometimes, hopefully that will go away with time. The larger keys (enter shift, etc.) are slightly louder than the others. The frame is quite large.
Probably the only mouse I will use. I've had the naga and deathadder before. The regular naga was nice at first but I felt myself wanting to bind keys in game there that ended up being more of a hassle to press, the keys on here are much easier to recognize and the mouse has a better overall feel for me
