Description

Hello, I am Frostbite and this build is a case and mod update to my previous build which can be found here: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/82921-wip-frostbites-blood-prodigy-m-r9-280x/ . I plan on water-cooling in the future and further improve this build with small mods here and there (currently in college so it may take a while). When I first saw this case and its build quality I could not resist getting it but Phanteks did not make their White version white inside and out. This was the first thing I did upon receiving the case, strip it down, scuff it, and paint it white. This build follows the Red and White color scheme which in my opinion is more of a challenge than your typical Black and Red pc build.

For the currents mods I will explain them picture by picture here http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/33295d/build_complete_frostbites_phanteks_evolv_whiteout/

(Yes I do have two Kingston SSD in Raid 0 and I bought them over a year and half ago by now so I apologize in advance, if I knew I would be boycotting them too)

The only editing done to these pictures is the addition of a cool filter due to the fact that every picture came out with a warm tint caused by the lighting in the room. I had a friend of mine take pictures with his DSLR which outright destroys my IPhone pictures so enjoy them and feel free to ask me questions.

Awesome build perfect for smooth 1080p gaming, but dammit man, list the price for us. or at least tell me an estimate of how much it cost. anyway love how it looks.

Beautiful. The last thing I would do is take the two separate cables that come out of the usb 3 header and tie them together.

I may sleeve them in the future. thanks :D

I love my Phanteks too. I take it you modded the window yourself, it looks great! I was torn by the colour but went black in the end.

This build looks incredible! +1 all around.

How did you pull off those cable ties? They look awesome.

I like the aesthetic of the cooler, how does it stand compared to an EVO?

  • 1 point

I have not tried overclocking due to living in Florida and I have not tried the EVO so I could not tell you sorry :/

  • 2 points

This makes me love Phanteks even more! The enthoo EVOLV was already such a sexy case by itself, and it looks fantastic with the inside painted white. +1

That is one slick looking build. Awesome job on the cable sleeving. I plan to do that eventually in my build but not quite to that level lol.

Wow! you got some great deals on those parts! XD

  • 2 points

Now that's a clean build. The system is setup with the right parts for the right case. The direct airfow is gonna keep those components nice and cold. Nice build man one of my new favorites!

  • 2 points

drools can i have one at that price? i can handle $0.00

so nice man! I went with red, white, and black theme myself. this is amongst the cleanest builds I have seen on here. +1

In all honesty, you could have done way better for the money, but it's a good looking build.

What did you do with the mobo? It looks like the sabertooth special cover on it, but the mobo you have listed doesn't look like it even comes with a non white cover. Did you paint it or find a sabertooth cover to fit? I've been looking at trying to do a white build (only parts of it) and can't shake the feeling I get from that board. While it's a winter camo, even an all white cover wouldn't be bad.

  • 1 point

They sell the kit saperatly and I painted it before placing it on the mobo

  • 2 points

How did you get the white power supply? Or did you mod it? If so how?

Sexiest build ever tho!

  • 1 point

Looking as close as I can, it looks like the mobo is painted, but the back of the PS still looks EVGA black, so paint looks like a good bet.

  • 1 point

painted it :)

Can you link the paint? Please?

  • 1 point

Ohhhhh, I used plasti dip for the thermal armor, sorry I thought you meant the case

  • 2 points

i love the small form factor and i've been looking at that case for a mini atx build i love sleeved cables but the white paracord lacing i don't like. it reminds me of football laces but that is my only gripe. +1

  • 1 point

Understandable for the lacing, but footballs use different materials so it does not remind me of those.

I wanna see some acrylic tubing on here!!!

  • 1 point

I thought about it and was looking to do flexible with sleeving around it.

  • 2 points

If you do flexible, then I hope you use some fat red tubes, with the right fittings that would be beautiful.

  • 1 point

Ohh yeah, clear tubing with vivid coolant always looks nice.

  • 2 points

this is one of the best evolv builds I've seen. good job!

  • 2 points

I'm making this build next month BUT... in cyan/blue =D

RAM is available in blue and so is the Phanteks case and CPU fans. The mobo will be different: I'll be using an ASRock Z97 Anniversary which is blue and black IF I don't have the extra money for the armored Gryphon (quite the price difference). I couldn't find blue Silverstone cables but Corsair and EVGA do sell some, I'll be braiding with white as well. Ah almost forgot, I plan on doing a custom blue paint job on the case itself. Probably using a very enlarged Cloud 9 Logo on the non-window side and top.

Send me a link when you finish it :)

Of course!

I would freakin kill for purple fans and ram though... would do a killer white/purple PC

DAMN THATS ONE SEXY BUILD! Really awesome job! I just have one question. Where did you put the NZXT HUE? I couldn't spot it in any of your pictures and was wondering as I may get this same case, but want to able to do some RGB lighting. Cheers :)

What inspired you to replace the 200mm fan that came in the front with dual 140mm fans?

  • 1 point

Dual 120mm because the 200mm in black and white and i wanted to get rid as of much black as possible.

  • 2 points

Good reason. Love the build.

What's this about Kingston being boycotted?

  • 1 point

They switched the components they used after sending review samples, so the public ones were slower.

  • 2 points

Hey, did you ever consider another case? The Phanteks is a bit out of my budget... do you recommend any other case that is white, has a window and is the same size factor as the EVOLV?

  • 1 point

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-s210e002

or

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-s210002

You would have to make the window, 5$ plexi glass from lowes and borrow a neighbors dremel

  • 2 points

Those look nice, I could paint the black parts cyan as well... I do have a NOX Magma though. It's an old Mid ATX case, all metal which makes it heavy as hell. It has a huge window with a fan on it and a fan up front as well. Problem is the fans have red lights, maybe I could replace those. The case is silver but I can spray paint it white both inside and out.

http://computermax.org/images/800x800/6221

I need to give it some thought, depends on the budget I can get. I think it ventilates alright, but not sure, haven't used it in years.

  • 3 points

agreed

  • 1 point

Did you mod the side windows ? I am having the save case as you and the only thing i hate is the windows being so small

  • 1 point

Yeah I did :)

  • 1 point

You did it yourself or go to a store?

  • 1 point

Myself, started with a dremel and realized that wasn't strong enough so I used an angle grinder. Sanded the edges a little and a quick coat of paint to keep it white.

  • 1 point

Why the prices are 0$?
