Description

About me I am a 15 year old when posting this build, I work fast food making minimum wage so I decided to buy myself a gaming pc for my 16th birthday on the 28th of August. I've always been an all around gamer, I still play game cube and super mario bros 3 along with my Xbox One, but I've always wanted a PC to play games on so I figured I'll get myself a budget build and if I like it I'll get a better one later on! As the day of this post there is one picture, I'll upload more as I get the chance, and yes, I know, I need to do some cable management still, but let's get to what I think about the parts:

This is my very first build, so I would like thoughts and what you think I could've done and what I should do on my next build, thanks to all!

Part Reviews

CPU

NO COMPLAINTS. 6 cores, clocked at 3.5 GHz and I can over clock it, what's not to love about it?

Motherboard

It's not the greatest motherboard, that's for sure, the bios looks like your running a Windows 95, but it gets the job done just fine, so I'm over all pleased with it. Do note, this does NOT have usb 3.0 front headers, it does on the back though.

Memory

What can I say? It's RAM, 8GB, new RAM, same old story you'll hear with any RAM kit.

Storage

Again, not much to say, stores everything I have, wanted an SSD, didn't have the money, there's always next build.

Video Card

This, is not the best, if you're looking into this card, don't expect 1080p 60FPS on all games, I don't think 60FPS is needed, is it nice? Sure, but I don't think it's a need when it comes to gaming so this card does just fine, I love the GPU Tweak feature Asus has with it, but I do have a complaint, I haven't researched it, but I sometimes when I start games up the fan will kick in and I get a blue and green screen with all the colors overlapping eachother, and it says something, can't understand what it says due to over to the overlapping green and blue colors, seconds after my PC restarts, I don't know what causes this problem, drivers are up to date but if someone can tell me that'd be awesome of you, but other than that, not too bad of a card.

Case

Mid tower case, looks pretty amazing honestly, nothing to really complain about I like it.

Power Supply

Power supply, not modular, wiring was a pain, but eh, that's what you get for about $30.

I love budget builds more than crazy powerhouse PCs. It's fun to see what people come up with for cheap. I would also have definitely gone with an i3 as it beats the 6300 in almost ever game, but otherwise it looks great!

I agree that budget builds are more interesting because most expensive builds are i7s with gtx 900 series gpus, but I personally like the fx 6300 and although and i3 could've done me better this thing works just fine for my first build, and thank you!

Excellent Work, Kyle!

That FX-6300 not only will handle games fine, but if you ever plan on Streaming or Recording your gameplay, the 6 Cores will handle it no problem.

8GB is great, plus you have room for 16GB later on if you plan on getting it.

The 260X Is a good Entry-Level GPU. Heck, Later on you can upgrade it to a R9 390X or Fury, and You'll be running through games at 1080p maxed out with no issues.

Overall, An Excellent first-time build with room for upgrading. Well Done! +1.

Great build Kyle!

I've actually been looking at building a pc for a while but struggled to know what I should get but after seeing this I'm seriously thinking of buying these parts. I was just wondering though if you would recommend any different parts to use instead of these?

Thanks for your help and hope you have a good birthday!

It's a fine build over all, but the only thing I'd recommend is a better GPU like the 270x if you can afford it, and thank you!

Ok thanks for the help but just wondering if you could link me that 270x. It would much appreciated.

Hey great work! I recently built my first build, also. Once you are on the PC master race, you will never go back to being a console pleb XD. I will have to admit, I played my ps3 for the first time in 10 months last night, though haha. Keep up the good work! +1

If it's not to late u can return that gpu and get a 750 ti or a r7 360

As in FPS, the 260X is known to perform better than a 750 ti and at a cheaper price range. The 260X is older than the 750 ti but still performs slightly better just to clear that up.
