Description

So a while back I decided that I was going to build my first desktop and well here she is! I opted for an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and for my GPU a 1030 OC GPU I went for a simple 1030 because I wasn’t going to be heavy on video games but I’m kind of regretting not getting a 1050 or 1080 I only ordered 8GB of Ram but it looks like I will be getting another 8GB soon! This build is mainly for school but also for games when I get bored of my school. Let me know how I did!

My advice is simple. Ditch that 1030 ASAP and find something better because that card is sub par at best.

I can’t complain about the 1030 though. I’ve been able to run GTA 5 (5M as mod as well) @ 125 FPS.

What's wrong with the 1030? It's a great 1080p card as long as you play on medium settings, which look remarkably similar to high settings on most games.

No clue why you got a gt 1030, I recomend saving up for a rx 580, its great value and it would got nicely with the cpu.

Do not for the love of god get a 1050 when 570's exist. Here in amazon u can get a new one for $99, drawback is the dvi-d only connection (ez fix with an adapter), it'll perform just as good. Here is a vid showing u how good it is for the price - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1blVVZqg4RE&t=481s

A gtx 1050 wont make a big difference for the price, I would go something like a rx 580.

CPU Temperature While Idle

32.0° C

CPU Temperature Under Load

38.0° C

There is no way that is only 38 under a load, they are never really that close.

I’ll run a benchmark tonight but I think I’m sure I saw those temps

You were correct sir I idle at 23C And 39C while under load

39 under a load doesn't seem reasonable at all, it should be around 70-75, what are you using to test with?

It's a cool system. But should've chosen minimum of 1050 or 1050Ti instead of 1030

For under 80 bucks I think that the 1030 is a good budget GPU been able to run games at over 60FPS

You should check rx570 and GTX 1050 or 1050ti comparison and prices. i saw a 100$ Sapphire 570 in Amazon. Your system is too good for a gt1030. Just saying. Nice build by the way.

I’m trying to make my wife get me a new GPU for my birthday! I’ll most likely get either a 1060-1080 or a RX590 I think I saw by mai

If you are going to get either of those later, 1030 is perfectly fine for now ;)

Great beginner build. I would recommend upgrading to a 570 or 580 8gb used on eBay or /r/hardewareswap as soon as you can. You're going to get a great card that will last you into the foreseeable future.

Used 1060 costs about as much as a new 1030 nowadays. Theres really no point in buying new gpus right now.

Sorry, I haven't been on in a while, I was getting a good 30 FPS on Medium settings when I was playing GTA and 60 on Fortnite.
