Description

I have not done a upgrade to something new since 2013. So this was quite the undertaking. I have everything but the graphics card, I'll be waiting till January when I get my tax returns.

A gaming computer is a personal computer designed for playing computationally demanding video games. Due to the integration of common hardware components onto the motherboard since the 1990s, a modern gaming computer is comparable to a mainstream computer with the addition of performance-oriented components, such as video cards and high core-count CPUs. Gaming computers are often associated with enthusiast computing due to an overlap in interests; however, while a gaming PC is built to achieve performance for actual gameplay, enthusiast PCs are built to maximize performance, using games as a real application benchmark. Whereas enthusiast PCs are high-end by definition, gaming PCs can be subdivided into low-end, mid-range, and high-end markets. Video card manufacturers earn the bulk of their revenue from their low-end and mid-range offerings.[1]

I think that’s the card he’s going to buy, not the one thats currently inside his computer

You are correct. My current card is simply a 980ti... I know , I know! I ran out of funds building this rig that I have to wait a bit longer to afford the graphics card.

Understandable, the rtx 2080s expensive, even for a graphics card, im still trying to save up $3000 for my build

Nice rig! Although I have heard that the GTX 2080 has been kind of hard on some games. How is it for you?

Reviews are out today and gpu's will be launched on the 27 september i think.

You can pre order the founders edition on nvidia website and aftermarket gpu's in any online store.

This is why I'm actually glad to be waiting a few months before getting a new GPU. Prices will (hopefully) stabilize, reviews will have poured in, drivers and fixes will be out, etc. I'd love to jump on the "first!" bandwagon. But I personally feel it's better to wait a bit.

So what's in the rig now, before the RTX 2080 releases?

Nothing, I suppose.

but it shows a GPU in the build already, and it can't be the RTX 2080 because they were buying it in january

they will be buying the 2080 in January, as in 2019...since "I'll be waiting till January when I get my tax returns."

What are your cpu temp.

I have it OCed to 4.1ghz (past the initial 3.7) and on a heavy load like Modded Minecraft for a few hours, which I play a lot of, I don't normally see past 60C after temps stabilize. This is also a variant based on the temp of my room. It's been hitting 90f+ here these past few afternoons so I've seen some slightly higher temps. With my room being around 75f (I just have a meager AC window unit, no central air.)
